Welcome, Rockets!

Welcome to Rodgers Elementary where we are dedicated to working with our students and families to provide students with a positive and challenging environment in which they can succeed academically, emotionally and socially. We do this by building positive relationships with our students and their families both in and out of the classroom. We create learning opportunities that are highly engaging and meaningful for all types of learners.  We set high expectations, work hard on our goals and celebrate our successes.

We are proud of our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Program (PBIS), the collaboration of our staff during Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), and the researched based curriculum we teach through the Common Core Standards.  Additionally, our PTC, with support of all of our families, works in collaboration with the school staff to provide enriching experiences for our children and support the work of the teacher in the classroom. We shoot for the stars to make futures brighter. Rodgers

2018 Kindergarten Registration

Over 100 Class of 2031 students attended Kindergarten Roundup in March.

During this time, visitors had the opportunity to find out about their neighborhood school, enroll their child for the 2018-19 school year, met Kindergarten teachers, received Kindergarten readiness activities and supplemental summer work, had a Class of 2031 photo opportunity, and asked questions.

For more information, please visit our Kindergarten Registration webpage.

Make a Difference Award

Kelly Gattuso, our ECSE teacher for MOCI ECSE and regular ECSE has been selected to receive a Make a Difference award by the parent advisory committee at the ISD. She was nominated by the parents of her students and was selected as one of three recipients out of 100s of nominations. To learn more about this award, view the nomination form.

Kelly, along with so many others, is a shining star of excellence at Rodgers Elementary! Jennifer Landa also earned this same award roughly five years ago.  To earn all-county recognition is an achievement that we are excited to celebrate.

New Playground Equipment

UnitedHealth executives, school leaders and Marvin Jones, Jr., met on the Rodgers Elementary playground this morning to dedicate newly donated equipment and enjoy the beautification.

Marvin Lewis Jones Jr. is an American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. In his message to all 500 elementary students, he reminded them about the importance of physical activity. He quoted, “It is very important to get out there, play and stay active, because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be where I am now."

The project was made possible by a $22,000 grant from UnitedHealthcare to Jones’ Dreambuilders program. They were joined by Playworks, which teams up with companies and volunteer groups to improve children’s health and well-being by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play at school. Jones will be at the school with UnitedHealthcare leaders, employee volunteers and students to install the new equipment and clean and beautify the grounds.

Congratulations to 347 Rodgers Elementary students who completed Ribbi’s Rad Readers Challenge, reading books at home. This earned Ms. Saad’s entire class, and many others, a free ticket from the Eastside Diamond Hoppers to a baseball game! Thank you, United Shore Professional Baseball League!

After over an hour of spelling words listed from the Scripps list, Masonic Heights Elementary's Addyson Jackman, Rodgers Elementary's Madison Sykes, Violet Elementary's Glendian Vasili, and Kennedy Middle School's Talesa Graham were named Spelling Bee Champions for their respective school!

At the Macomb Regional Spelling Bee, held at the Macomb Intermediate School District, Lake Shore’s Glendian, the only elementary student to last into the top 10, disqualified in 9th place with the French word boudoir! We are in awe of these intelligent students and their spelling prowess.
