This is the image for the news article titled Technology Showcase      Thanks to our community supporting the 2016 Bond, Lake Shore classrooms will be moving to 1:1 learning environments. Every student will be receiving a device, such as a Chromebook or iPad by the end of 2019. The first buildings to transition will be the middle and high school. Teachers received their devices this spring and all students at Kennedy and Lake Shore will receive a device for the 2017-2018 school year.
In preparation for this transition to 21st Century Learning Environments, Lake Shore hosted a Technology and Innovation Showcase. During the month of May, all Lake Shore educators were given the opportunity to conduct half-day instructional rounds to see all of the innovative and technology-enhanced classrooms at Lake Shore Public Schools.  The showcase was a way for teachers to get out of their classroom and see how their counterparts in other buildings and grade levels  use technology on a daily basis.
More importantly, educators had a chance to speak with students who use this technology. Students demonstrated programs that they use for homework and talked about how they access lessons and extra help online. One of the great flaws with education is the isolationism that takes place, and teachers don’t get the chance to speak with other educators or students. Technology is ever-changing and collaboration is key when it comes to keeping up with best practices. The Technology and Innovation Showcase will be an annual event at Lake Shore to keep our educators connected   and utilizing the latest teaching techniques.
